The Resurrection, a novel

The Resurrection, published by Realms, a division of Charisma House, is Mike Duran's debut novel.

Mike Duran is the author behind Decompose, one of the most thoughtful writing blogs on the net. He's a Christian--an ordained minister to be exact. And now, he's officially a novelist. Every time I find a spare moment to spend at his blog, it's like reading a more mature, synthesized reflection of my own views and thoughts. He blogs mostly on writing but also delves into culture, theology and apologetics. Right up my alley! I guess you could say we'd get along if we hung out.

And we did hang out once, briefly, at a writers group where I found out he lives only twenty minutes away from me.

So what's The Resurrection about? Due to the severe lack of time I have to read these days, I haven't gotten my hands on this book (which I believe is completely my loss), so I can only tell you the back cover blurb. And here it is:

When Ruby Case, an unassuming crippled woman, inexplicably raises a boy from the dead, she creates uproar in the quiet coastal town of Stonetree. Some brand her a witch, others a miracle worker. Yet Reverend Ian Clark could care less. Dogged by demons and immersed in self-pity, Clark is being unwittingly drawn into a secret religious order--one that threatens his very life. But he's about to get a wake-up call.

Together, Ruby and Reverend Clark are thrust into a search for answers... and a collision with unspeakable darkness. For behind the quaint tourist shops and artist colonies lies a history of deceit. And a presence more malignant than anything they can imagine. Yet a battle is brewing, the resurrection is the first volley, and the unlikely duo are the only ones who can save them. But can they overcome their own brokenness in time to stop the evil, or will they be its next victim?

Hey Brandon,

Enjoyed reading about your experience with the author's blog. You've piqued my interest to give it another look.

I've got a number of recent Christian novels that I hope to give away soon. If you're interested, register at my blog to receive updates for a chance to win.

Sounds cool. The guy was saying "Charismatic" fiction was growing fast. Brandon, are you Pentecostal as well? Perhaps you can tap into that lol.

Hey Josh :)
Haha, I don't have a charismatic type of personality . . . more like the quiet contemplative guy. But I sure like my charismatic brothers. However, I don't really know what Charismatic fiction is? :)

I'm wondering what it is, too, to tell the truth. LOL

Yep. Some of haven't broken in yet, though. Like myself. I only have two short stories published with small Christian guys like Digital Dragon and a Flame in the Dark. I'm getting there. My goal is to get stuff in the real big magazines like Clarkesworld, Asimov's, Tor, etc.

Hey Josh,
I tried to do that, but I'm not persistent enough. But, it would be totally rewarding to have a short story published in a pro-paying magazine.
Hope you succeed :)
